Many people in the USA are looking for more affordable health care owing to the continued increase in premiums. Many companies are now increasing the charges, for providing this service to their workers or cutting back on the level of cover. I know this because before 2006 I had a really good health care package with my company but it has got worse this year. This was a shock to everyone; being told that the health care provider was going to be replaced because the cost was too great.
They said it was necessary if all their employees were to have the same level of health care. I am told that the new insurance package is still very good and I'm lucky to have it. To some extent I do agree, but their search for another provider now costs me double the money from my paychecks to have my husband and daughter on my policy. This means, that for my company to provide a health plan to all of the employees, it is no longer affordable for us.
OK, so my health care is still respectable but the new company that we have is not as good as our previous. The new affordable health care plan initiated by my company meant that certain workers found themselves a lot worse off financially with additional co-pays and expenses. I am sure of this because just over 2 years ago when I had my little boy, the stay in hospital was completely covered by my insurance policy. Working out that same stay with the new plan would mean approximately 4,000 dollars would have to be paid by me.
But, this doesn't include the additional amounts taken out of my paycheck, only the hospital costs. There is obviously a market for these schemes because more and more affordable health care options are becoming available. Some people are even able to get free health care, also single mothers or families where an employment scheme isn't available are having the opportunity to join low cost plans. Although these programs are a good idea for those less fortunate there are always people who want to abuse the system.
Those less well off are in need of these affordable health care schemes but they are also used by those who are intent on living of the state and do not actually contribute to society. Sometimes it's hard because your conscience says you should help but you know that many people that do not deserve help will benefit and the taxpayer is the one who pays. The health plan program my employer found definitely had improved financial benefits for him. All too often this happens where the only one that really benefits is the company, who seem quite happy that many of their employees will take home less. Something needs to be done in this country to offset rising costs and provide more affordable health care to those who are in need.
